Our Team

Meet Jane Turner - our Volunteer Coordinator

I began working at JRS as Volunteer Coordinator in March 2020. I have over eight years experience working with refugees and people seeking asylum, initially as a Volunteer myself, and then as Administration Assistant. Later, I was Project Coordinator at a community legal centre for refugees. I also have a Masters of Development Studies specialising in refugees and forced migration.

The opportunity to work at JRS was particularly appealing to me as the mission of JRS to accompany, serve and advocate for the rights of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, strongly aligns with my personal values and goals.

In my role as Volunteer Coordinator my main focus is the recruitment, training, supervision and support of our wonderful volunteer team based mainly at Arrupe Place, our centre in Westmead. I am constantly amazed by the commitment, compassion and generosity of our fantastic volunteers, without whom it would be impossible to deliver our services and accompany, serve and advocate for the people we serve.
