Welcome Fr Brett O’Neill – New Country Director at JRS Australia!

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Fr Brett O’Neill SJ to the role of Country Director of Jesuit Refugee Service, (JRS) effective from August 15, 2025.

Fr. Brett brings a unique and valuable combination of extensive practical experience and strong academic qualifications in the field of refugees and migration. He has served with Jesuit Social Services and held key roles within the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs.

His recent completion of a PhD—focused on Migration through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching—further enhances his expertise. In addition, his deep understanding of both the Australian and international Jesuit communities adds important perspective.

Collectively, these experiences align closely with the mission and strategic direction of JRS, positioning Fr Brett to make a significant contribution to its continued growth and impact.
