Free Together: Stories of Strength, Unity and Family
Join us on on Friday evening, the 19th of July, at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Parramatta for a heartfelt and inspiring event as we celebrate Refugee Week with this year’s theme “Finding Freedom: Family.” This special event will feature a showcase of powerful presentations and performances by leaders with lived experience from the JRS Australia Refugee Leadership Program.
Through the connective art of storytelling our presenters will guide us with their perspectives on family and freedom in the journey to seek safety and find home. These narratives highlight the profound importance of family bonds for those seeking safety, the complexity of family in refugee experiences including absence and loss, and lastly how family can be found and formed in a new home. We welcome you to share with us in an evening of moving speeches, short film, music and art.
This evening promises to be a deeply moving and enlightening experience, providing a platform for refugee voices to be heard and celebrated. It is an opportunity to come together as a community, to listen, learn, and support one another in the spirit of Refugee Week.
A beautiful Persian dinner will be provided prepared by JRS clientele. Donations on the night are appreciated to help support the important work of the JRS Leadership Program.
