Media

Engaging with the media so that the issues impacting people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants in vulnerable situations are known by the Australian people.

JRS Australia is committed to raising awareness of the issues facing the people we serve in the local, national, and international media. Our engagement with the media also attempts to challenge misconceptions about forcibly displaced people, contribute to the public discourse on forced migration, and highlight the myriad innovative, positive contributions that people and communities seeking protection and a new life in Australia make to our community.

We collaborate with leaders of lived experience to ensure that their voices are centred in public discourse on the issues that affect them. Our frontline and advocacy staff work closely with interested leaders to ensure participation in safe, accurate, and truly collaborative.

Our perspectives have been featured across a range of outlets, including, ABC News, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Saturday Paper, Al Jazeera, Buzzfeed News, SBS News, Crikey News, and CathNews.
