Lenten Drive 2026
A Small Gift Makes a Big Difference
Lent is a time of reflection, compassion and solidarity. This year, we invite our community to take part in our annual Lenten Drive in support of JRS Australia’s Foodbank.
Each week, JRS Australia supports 150 families through the Foodbank. Many of the people we accompany have limited or no access to income support and rely on community generosity to meet basic needs.
Over the six weeks of Lent, you can make a practical and meaningful difference by donating one essential item each week.
How It Works: Six Weeks of Giving
We invite schools, parishes, workplaces and community groups to collect the following items during Lent:
Week 1:
Cooking Oil (750ml or 1L)
Week 2:
Dishwashing Liquid
Week 3:
Canned Tuna (unflavoured, in oil)
Week 4:
Laundry Detergent
Week 5:
Dried Red Lentils (375g or 1kg)
Week 6:
Long Life Milk (1L, full cream)
These items are in high demand and help ensure families receive nutritious food and essential household supplies.

Supermarket Gift Vouchers Welcome
Supermarket gift vouchers are also greatly appreciated. They enable families to choose the items they need most, providing dignity and flexibility during challenging times. Learn more here.

Walk With Us This Lent
Lent calls us to turn outward: to notice, to respond, and to act with compassion.
By participating in the Lenten Drive, you are standing in solidarity with refugees and people seeking asylum in our community.
Every bottle of oil.
Every packet of lentils.
Every litre of milk.
A small gift truly makes a big difference.
