Chlow Watts - Finding Safety Project Support Worker

I am privileged to walk alongside women as a Support Worker in the JRS Women’s Space with the Finding Safety Project, where I support women on temporary visas who are experiencing gender-based violence, housing insecurity and other complex challenges.

Advocating for marginalised women has always been a passion of mine. I’ve gained frontline experience through volunteering with several organisations, including 4 Voices, WAGEC (Women’s & Girls’ Emergency Centre), and The Lillian Howell Project, a specialist homelessness service for young women and girls.

I’ve recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence from QUT, and I am currently completing a Master of Justice. I’m pursuing research in historical responses to gendered violence and the ways our systems can better support victim-survivors today.

Alongside my frontline work, I am also a writer and musician. I write about gender equality and violence prevention for TALKBACK Mag and I’ve contributed to publications such as Women’s Agenda and OpenGlobalRights. My background is originally in music, and I studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before moving into community services.

I believe that all women deserve safety and autonomy, and I’m so glad to be part of this important work with JRS.
