Moh Moh Thet - Project Officer, Employment and Finding Safety

My name is Moh, and I am a Project Officer at Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Australia. I have a background in development work, with a strong focus on Women, Peace, and Security. My passion lies in protecting women from violence, advocating for gender equality and women’s rights, and more broadly, promoting human rights. I believe these issues need continuous attention within the community development sector, and I find deep fulfillment in working towards meaningful change.

During my postgraduate studies in Development, I focused on culturally sensitive and human-rights-based approaches to community work. I wanted to apply what I learned in a real-world setting, which led me to an internship at JRS Australia in the Finding Safety Project. My journey with JRS continued when I took on the role of Employment Officer, supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in achieving job readiness and securing sustainable employment in Australia.

In November 2024, I expanded my role, taking on additional responsibilities as a Project Officer in the Finding Safety Project. Through my work, I remain committed to fostering empowerment, safety, and inclusion for people—especially women—facing systemic barriers.
